I'm A Big Kid Now!!!!

When it comes to potty training I have read a few articles and gotten a lot of tips and tricks from different people. But honestly it didn't matter how much I thought I knew or different tricks I tried it all came down to my child. I started potty training Karma a little over 4 weeks ago and it has been an adventure. We had tried to potty train a few times, but I gave up due to different things that were happening at the time. I also don't think we were both ready. A week or so after Karma turned 3 I knew it was time and we just had to do it. So are first two days were a disaster I think we only made it to the potty once. We both were out of sync I would put her on the potty and she wouldn't have to go. Than a few minutes after I took her off she would go. It was very hard not to get mad or lose my patience, but I did my best and tried to stay very positive. Our poor carpet got the worst of all the accident and right when she had an accident I sprayed it will resolve trying to get rid of it the best I could. Once the third day came I just prayed for the best and we had a lot more success we only had two accidents. I had bought a bag of skittles and poured the candy in a tupperware container. I left the container in the bathroom and told Karma that every time she went potty she would get some skittles. If she went pee she got 2 and if she went poop she got 4. So by the fourth day we were starting to get it down a little better and only had 2 accidents. She even told me a few times when the pee was coming it was great to see how far we had come. The skittles were a great little treat for her, but at times it was hard for her to understand why she couldn't have some skittles after an accident. After 6 full days of potty training Sunday came and it was going to be our first day out in public with panties on. I was really nervous, but knew that we could do it. I took her to the potty after sacrament and she went which was great cause public restrooms can be scary to little kids. I than took her to nursery and informed her teachers. I went back about an hour and half later to check on her and she had to go again. I was so proud of her we made it through church with no accidents. I would say it took her two weeks to get it down. It still isn't always easy we have had an accident in public and we still have accidents at home. But to think how far we have come in such a little time is great. I love that now I only have to buy and change diapers for one child. I am really hoping that when Sadie is ready to potty train that it will be a little easier the second time around. Overall it has been a great growing experience for me and Karma and I am so proud of her.

This is our potty chart, my sister got it for her and it really helped out. Karma liked putting the stickers on the chart all by herself.

While at home our outfit of choice is always a shirt and panties.

Wedgies happen all the time and I couldn't help but take a picture of it. I know in a few years Karma will love looking back at this.

I had to get a least one potty shot.
